The trip from Madrid to Salamanca takes about two hours. If you come from Portugal or France you can directly take the bus or train from those countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>Car<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 12pt;\">If you travel by car, you can arrive to Salamanca through highways A-62 and A-66. To get to Madrid, you will need to drive through highway A-50.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>Bus<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;d rather travel by bus, there is a bus line from Avanza Bus company that takes you directly from Madrid&#8217;s Barajas airport to Salamanca. The bus stop in Barajas is at the airport&#8217;s Terminal 1, in the parking area in front of the arrivals hall. You can purchase your ticket and check the schedule in their website <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">www.avanzabus.com<\/span>, in the physical ticket office there, or in El Corte Ingl\u00e9s&#8217; travel agency (first floor of T.) You can also call to the number +34 902 02 09 99.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are regular bus lines that allow you to arrive to Salamanca from other Spanish or European cities. From Madrid-Barajas airport, to get to the bus station Sur de Madrid (Compa\u00f1\u00eda Avanza Bus, C\/ M\u00e9ndez \u00c1lvaro), the best option is to take the subway line 8 to the Nuevos Ministerios station, and then to take line 6 to M\u00e9ndez \u00c1lvaro.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 12pt;\">You can also take a taxi if you do not wish to change lines. To get to Madrid&#8217;s Chamart\u00edn train station from Madrid-Barajas airport, you have to take the subway line 8 to the Nuevos Ministerios stop, and then change to line 10, which will take you to Chamart\u00edn. It was founded by Toledo&#8217;s archbishop Don Alonso de Fonseca, and its construction began in 1519. Like the rest of university Major Colleges, it originally acted as a non-profit educational institution. This way, people without much financial resources could access to college-level education. It soon would lose this mission, though, to become a training tool for the State&#8217;s bureaucrats and the high ecclesiastical charges. The building currently counts with a restaurant, a caf\u00e9, and a chimney room available to all guests and the university community &#8211; as well as to the open public.
