III Congress of the Spanish Association for East Asian Studies
Hybridization of Knowledge: Integration of Disciplines, Cultures and Environments
(from June 7 to 9, 2023)
The International Congress of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies will take place from June 7 to June 9 in the city of Salamanca under the theme “Hybridization of knowledge: integration of disciplines, cultures, and environment”. With the term “Third Culture” John Brockman drew attention to the gap between the sciences and the humanities and encouraged scientists and intellectuals to construct a discourse that brings their areas of research closer together. At the 3rd International Congress of the East Asian Studies Association we also want to promote the hybridization of knowledge as a result of the dialogue between disciplines, cultures, environments and socio-economic contexts in the age of the Anthropocene.
What is the International Congress of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies?
The International Congress of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies is the third organized by the AEEAO and has become the largest meeting point for experts in this field in Spain since the editions of the Spanish Forum for Asia-Pacific Research began in 2006 and the Association of East Asian Studies was founded in 2016. The congress is held on each occasion in a different city and on this occasion has the support of the University of Salamanca and other public and private institutions that sponsor its organization, together with a wide network of collaborators formed by administrations, companies and third sector entities.
Objectives and targed audience
The International Congress of the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies has two main objectives: to make known the contributions made by our discipline and to improve our work by contrasting it with other professionals in the sector. A congress is always a mechanism to improve the state of a discipline, both in its scientific and professional aspects.
Panels and Presentations
During the three days of the congress, the authors will present their panels and papers on the following topics and areas of knowledge:
- Urbanism and Sustainability
- Science and Innovation
- History and Archaeology
- History of Art and Cinema
- Language and Translation
- Literature
- Philosophy and Thought
- Politics and Economics
- Sociology and Anthropology
- Digital Humanities
Both panel and paper proposals must be written in Spanish or English, which will be the languages of communication at the congress, and must include title, author(s), objectives, methodology, results obtained or expected and bibliography, if applicable. The deadline for submission to the Scientific Committee is 15 November 2022. All proposals will be subject to blind peer review. Papers should not exceed 15 minutes in length.
Panel proposals must include a general abstract of 300-500 words (excluding bibliography), plus abstracts of 300-500 words for each of the papers that will participate in the panel. Each panel should be composed of four or five papers and it should be made clear who will be responsible for each of them. Acceptance of the panel does not guarantee acceptance of all the papers participating in it, which will be assessed individually. In the event that the number of participants is not met, the Organizing Committee may suggest changes.
